Calm my mind, help me find
My place of inner peace.
Lady and Lord, who I adore
I ask this of you please
Help me find some peace of mind
My anger to release.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
As I lay down my weary head
I ask you to watch o’er my bed.
Lord and Lady, day and night,
Keep me safely in your sight.
When I awake in the day new,
Help me sing in praise of you.
Keep me calm, serene, happy
As I will, So Mote It Be!
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Lord and Lady, give us peace
Let this constant fighting cease.
Bring this warfare to an end
No longer foe but a new friend.
Lord and Lady, hear this plea
As I will, So Mote It Be!
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
This next poem was written for a friend, to cheer her up when she was being cyber-bullied.
I’m a Witch, this you’ll see
If you start a war with me.
When attacked, I don’t run,
Not all witches Harm None.
I won’t hide, I will fight,
I will show you all my might.
Best take heed of this ditty,
Or “I’ll get you, my pretty!”
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Red, orange, yellow, golden brown,
Autumn leaves are on the ground.
The trees are looking rather bare,
Cold, damp weather everywhere.
Yet I quite like this time of year,
Open fires bring great cheer.
Comfort food is hot and steaming,
Ice on grass and paths is gleaming.
Frost glitters on my window frame,
No two patterns are quite the same.
Wind is chill and feels like a storm,
People all wrapped up, nice and warm.
With rosy cheeks and windswept hair,
Eyes streaming, from the chilly air.
Rushing quickly on their own way,
Not seeing the beauty of the day.
I'm glad I like to walk quite slow,
Taking pleasure in Nature's show.
This time of year soon will pass,
Bringing ice like sheets of glass.
Temperatures too cold to bear,
Icicles forming here and there.
Snowflakes falling on everything,
People hide inside till it's Spring.
Winter is not the time for me,
Like the birds, I'd much rather flee.
I'll stay in my home, warm and dry,
And let the whole season pass me by.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
I love the wind, so wild and free,
I love the stormy, untamed sea,
They speak to places deep inside,
The places where the real me hides,
I wish so hard that I could flee,
So people would stop taming me!
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Don’t push too hard or I’ll push back,
Can’t take this continuous attack.
I try so hard to keep my head,
But my anger you keep fed.
I will bite if you don’t walk,
I’m fed up of this spiteful talk.
Just go and deal with your own crap,
Stop trying to catch me in a trap.
Back off now, I’m warning you,
Or I will do what I must do!
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Chains of hate can’t bind me round,
There is a secret I have found,
No matter what they try to do,
I don’t have to sit and stew,
I can channel my emotions
And write pages full of notions,
These words, I’ve found, can set me free,
To live my life and just be me.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
When I am sad, when I am blue,
Lord and Lady, I think of you.
I know that you are always there,
Especially when life’s unfair.
I pray to you to keep me strong,
Till better times do come along.
I am so thankful for your aid,
And through my troubles I can wade.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
This poem was written after witnessing a friend break down after severe cyber-bullying. People never seem to stop and think of the consequences of their actions, and I wanted to make some of them stop and think for a while.
You broke my spirit, are you proud?
The jeers and taunts were just too loud.
You couldn’t let me live my life,
You had to bring me hate and strife.
Why did you have to bring me down?
Making me look just like a clown.
Was it so you could look the best?
They’ll see through you, and soon, you pest.
They’ll do to you what you’ve done to me,
Heed my warnings, you will see!
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Yet another poem inspired by the after-effects of bullying. As you may have guessed, it is a subject that I feel very strongly about, and something I have experienced for myself on many occasions.
Pain and misery, hate and fear,
No wonder that I shed a tear.
What have I done to deserve this?
Was there something that I missed?
I have no friends, I’m all alone,
My heart is turning into stone.
When can I live my life again?
Can someone, please, just be my friend?
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
The poem below was an attempt to draw a line in the sand and show the world that there is life after bullies!
The past is past, now let’s move on,
It’s time to sing a different song.
The things that were are not there now,
Let’s start afresh and make a vow.
No more fear or ignorance,
Time to use our common sense.
The future’s full of hope, and bright,
Let’s make sure that we get it right!
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Can you see the magic around you?
Have the Lord and Lady found you?
Do you celebrate the seasons?
Do you like the ancient reasons?
I see the Divine in all around me,
I feel wonder when wind shakes a tree.
The birds in the air fill me with wonder,
Filled with awe at lightning and thunder.
I wish everyone could see what I do,
And enjoy Nature’s wonders too.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
This poem was something entirely different for me. The elements were floating about in my head, tugging at the edges of my brain. This was the result, although a friend who read it before posting did help me smooth out a couple of rough edges.
Earth, Air, Fire, Water,
Harken now to me, your daughter.
Water, Earth, Air, Fire,
Bending now to my desire.
Fire, Water, Earth, Air,
Help me now, as I prepare.
Air, Fire, Water, Earth,
Witness now, this, my rebirth.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Dance with me in the moonlight,
Let’s celebrate this wondrous night.
Put joy into our sacred rite,
Take pleasure in the lovely sight.
Dance with me in the moonlight,
My feet feel like taking flight.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
This poem was inspired by the Goddess, I cannot be any more specific than that.
She moves through the world, with grace,
She has an ever-changing face,
I feel Her touch in every place,
As She moves with gentle pace.
She calls to me in darkest night,
I hear Her voice in the sunlight,
And echoes from the greatest height,
Asking me to do what’s right.
I follow Her, with hope and cheer,
I have relinquished all my fear,
I feel Her presence ever near,
My path is now so crystal clear.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Please keep me straight upon my way,
Help me be true every day.
Don’t let me wander off the path,
Protect my cosy home and hearth.
Lord and Lady, help me believe,
As I will it, So Mote It Be!
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Walk with me, through day and night,
We’ll be together, in dark and light.
Share with me the season’s weather,
Magick we will do together.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Whirling thoughts go round and round,
How can anger make a sound?
I wish I could release this hate,
I do not want to seal my fate.
Am I so bad? I want to know
Why do others hurt me so?
Just let me be, to live my life,
Stop bringing to me pain and strife.
Go away, leave me alone,
The truth is here, your colours shown.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
The storm has passed, and now I’m calm,
I won’t let others do me harm.
No longer will they bring me down,
I want to smile, no more frowns.
My own life is in my hands,
No matter what their nasty plans.
I will not break, I will not fall,
No longer beaten, I stand tall.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
This poem was written after my first experience of prejudice against my beliefs, from someone who had no knowledge of the reality of my life.
Yes, I’m a Witch, is that so wrong?
You clearly think I don’t belong.
You judge my life, you judge my acts,
Yet you don’t bother with the facts.
The lies you tell are way off base,
But you say nothing to my face.
You know nothing of my beliefs,
My lifestyle, or all my griefs.
I think you need to learn about
The way I live, forget your doubts.
I try to help, I do my best,
I’m not the Wicked Witch of the West.
You’re a fool, with a closed mind,
Time to leave ignorance behind.
Talk to me, and soon you’ll learn,
That I do not deserve to burn.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
This poem was another one inspired by prejudice I was facing, from someone who should have known better.
Why is life so complicated?
Why am I so cursed and hated?
I'm tired of this constant fight,
Show me how to make it right.
This situation is so tragic,
You're blaming me for using magic.
You know naught of what you speak,
Your mind is closed, your reason weak.
Your actions are so underhand,
Judging what you don't understand.
Witchcraft is no more a crime,
You're living in a bygone time.
Why should I change my convictions
Just to minimise the frictions?
Live and let live, that's my way,
I don't tell others how to pray.
Open your mind, learn something new,
See things from different points of view.
Open up your fettered mind,
Leave the Burning Times behind.
Why can't you see that I'm not evil?
I won't turn you into a weevil.
You won't find yourself with paws,
My broomstick is for sweeping floors.
Look beyond your hate and fears,
Show wisdom far beyond your years.
Swap ignorance for open mind,
You may be awed by what you find.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Words spinning round inside my head
Tormenting me when I’m in bed
I want to rise and write them down
The light goes on, my husband frowns
He mutters something like, “You pest,”
So I lay right back down to rest
My brain continues its turmoil
Words slip across my mind like oil
I give up, and rise to write
And so ends another night.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Lord and Lady, this I ask,
Aid me daily in my task.
Let me be a guiding light,
Keep me strong, cheerful and bright.
Help me learn so I can grow,
Aid me when I’m feeling low.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
I wrote this one just for me, to clarify in my own mind what my own ethics are. I think it answered my question nicely.
I’m a Witch, and this my creed,
I will help when there is need.
I’ll do my best to help the Earth,
Won’t over-estimate my worth.
I won’t abuse the things I know,
I’ll stay upbeat when I feel low.
I’ll try my best in all I do,
Will try to keep an open view.
Be honest, open, and be fair,
Lord and Lady, this I swear.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
This one has never been seen by anyone except me. It’s a response to everyone who has taken my work at face value, and been unable to see the humour I try to show in my work.
Don’t take me so seriously,
I’m only writing poetry.
My tongue in cheek is firmly curled,
I’m not trying to change the world.
So find the humour in my rhyme,
It should take but a little time.
Lighten up, enjoy the joke,
Or out your ears will come smoke.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Good morning world, Blessed Be!
What has this day in store for me?
No matter if strife comes along
I will stay calm, sweet and strong.
If the day is full of light,
I’ll remember to give thanks tonight.
Lord and Lady, help me face
Whatever today brings with grace.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
This one is a very short prayer, giving thanks for those good times.
Every fibre fills with glee,
I’m so happy being me.
Lord and Lady, thanks to you,
For all I am, and can do.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
I wrote this one to my husband, in appreciation of all he does for me and our family. Over the last four years I have had some health problems, and he has kept everything together.
Lift my mood, help me stand tall,
Be my strength, don’t let me fall.
Always there, right by my side,
You see me, no need to hide.
I love you more with ev’ry day,
You are my life, my light, my way.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Another poem inspired by my wonderful husband. I cannot thank him enough!
My hand, so small in yours
Our love truly endures.
We have been through rough times,
Yet our love ever climbs.
I’ve never had to doubt you,
I couldn’t be without you.
You’re always there for me,
Strong and tall, like a tree,
My guide light in the dark,
My picnic in the park.
We will never, ever part,
You are too deeply in my heart.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
You go your way, I’ll go mine,
We can’t agree, but that’s just fine.
We don’t have to fuss and fight,
Because we both believe we’re right.
My beliefs are mine alone,
You’re entitled to your own.
I don’t want to start a war,
That’s not what I’m looking for.
So walk away, and don’t look back,
We’ll each stick to our own track.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
I think we have all had those days where you go into a room and can’t remember why, or we know there is something we should be doing, but just can’t think what it is. One of those days is what inspired this effort.
Ever feel like you’re losing your mind?
Can’t place the things that you needed to find?
Rest assured that you’re not alone,
It’s something that happens when you have grown
Older and Wiser, you need to adjust
To the idea that your brain is now full of dust.
It happens to all, I guarantee,
Why oh why does it happen early to me?
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
I’m crying, you’re lying,
Inside I’m slowly dying.
You use me, abuse me,
Now you’re going to lose me.
Tears flowing, no slowing,
This time I’m really going.
I’m gone, moved on,
No more falling for your con.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Have to smile, got to grin,
Can’t ever let the bullies win.
Keep on moving, never stop,
Slowly working to the top.
One day they’ll realise, if you’re strong,
That they were the ones in the wrong.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Lord and Lady, keep me strong,
Help me feel like I belong.
Give me faith in my skills,
Let them help me pay the bills.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
This poem was inspired by the thought of sitting by the fire in later years, and thinking back over happy times and loved ones. I wanted to make it longer, but I just haven’t been able to come up with more.
In moments of leisure,
I will treasure,
Memories of pleasure,
Beyond human measure.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
A love poem, asking for the things that most people would like in a relationship; trust, intimacy, and affection.
Give me comfort, show me love,
Take me higher, far above.
Give me kindness, show your heart,
Make me never want to part.
Show your weakness, share your fears,
We’ll be together through the years.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
I’ve found my home, I’ve found my place,
Where I don’t have to hide my face.
The people there make me belong,
They never make me feel I’m wrong.
We can discuss most anything,
Or laugh, or tease, or joke, or sing.
Where is this place? I hear you ask
This place that has no need for masks?
It’s all around me, calm and serene,
The place where I feel like a queen.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
I’m all alone, I have no home
It’s cold and dark out here.
I have nothing to call my own,
Nothing, except my fear.
I have no food, I have no love,
There’s strangers all around me.
No roof below the sky above,
No-one seems to see me.
Yes I’m homeless, down and out,
But I’m still a human being.
Don’t pass me by, ignore me,
Or look without REALLY seeing.
You don’t know my story, so
Don’t judge me without thinking,
You could be in my shoes soon,
The economy is shrinking.
So when you see me, don’t pass by,
Show kindness along the way.
You never know what time may bring,
You might be me one day.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
At this festive time of the year,
I won’t be celebrating I fear.
I have no money, home or hearth,
Instead I sleep on a cold path.
While you enjoy with family,
Please think of poor old me.
Is there something you can do
So I can share the happiness too?
Please don’t push me from your mind,
Take a minute, do something kind.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
I stand in my garden and what do I see?
An oasis of beauty and tranquillity.
I stand in my garden and what do I hear?
Insects and birds, the sounds crystal clear.
I stand in my garden and what do I smell?
The flowers and herbs that I love so well.
I stand in my garden and what do I feel?
Peaceful and happy, a pleasure so real.
I stand in my garden, and what do I taste?
The fruits from my trees that I don’t want to waste.
My garden’s my haven, my place I can hide,
I treasure the calmness it gives me inside.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
It’s a new day, a fresh start,
I wipe my troubles from my heart.
You betrayed me, cut me out,
I chose not to scream and shout.
Time to move on, start anew,
No more wasting thoughts on you.
I’m moving on to better things,
Hope is what the future brings.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
This is not a particularly happy poem, as it was written in a fit of frustration caused by being on the receiving end of someone else’s bad mood.
I’ve one nerve left, you’re getting on it,
Fed up with your moody shit.
Go away, leave, give me peace,
This constant tantrum has to cease.
Act your age, go on, grow up,
An adult, not a young pup.
If you don’t, I’ll walk away,
You may regret it all one day.
Life is not out to get you,
You need to take a different view.
So pick your toys up off the floor,
And throw them from your pram no more.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
I am a grumpy Witch today,
My patience has all gone away.
I’ve had enough, I’m fit to burst,
So come on world, show me your worst.
Don’t tell me to calm it down,
I want to scream, stamp and frown.
I must release anger and sorrow,
To be a happy Witch tomorrow!
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
I want to sing, and dance all night,
Victory is within my sight.
I’ve won this battle, fair and square,
I played nice, but you don’t care.
You’ve badmouthed me all over town,
I didn’t let it get me down.
You used against me dirty tricks,
You showered me with slaps and kicks.
I carried on with my own life,
I didn’t cause you stress and strife.
You’ve made yourself look like a fool,
While I have clearly kept my cool.
The mud you threw just isn’t sticking,
You’re the one that you were tricking.
Let this be a lesson to you all,
Lies and pride come before a fall.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
I am Pagan, and I’m proud,
I say it oft, and sing it loud.
Don’t think I’m a stereotype,
Ignore all the fuss and hype.
I’m a healer, and a Witch,
It doesn’t mean that I’m a bitch!
I try to help, to ease pain,
I love to dance in wind and rain.
When you are troubled, come to me
I’ll try my best to help, no fee!
Don’t judge me by fears of the past,
A witchy curse I will not cast.
I will not hide myself away,
I want to change what people say.
I am Pagan, and I’m here,
Not someone for you to fear.
Take some time, get to know me,
I don’t bite, and this you’ll see.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
I try so hard to do my best,
Yet you just judge me like the rest.
I’ll show you that you all are wrong,
I’ll have you sing a different song.
When all the facts have come to light,
You’ll see that I was proven right.
I won’t ask for apologies,
Just for hostilities to cease.
When it’s over, hear my plea,
Don’t come crawling back to me.
I won’t hold a grudge, no fear,
But there are no idiots here.
I won’t fall for your lies again,
Time for you to make new friends.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
This poem was written for my amazing husband, just before our wedding anniversary, to try and give him an idea of how much he means to me.
Your love is ever my guiding light,
It gets me through the darkest night.
We’ve had the year from hell, it seems
Yet you’re still supportive of my dreams.
You keep me strong, you give me hope,
You help me when I feel I can’t cope.
I love you more with every day,
Let life throw at us what it may!
I know that we will always be
A happy couple, you and me.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Ever had one of those days
Where things go wrong in many ways?
When nothing goes wholly to plan
You can’t do what you thought you can.
Disasters and mistakes galore,
When what you want is nothing more
Than peace and quiet, order and calm
Instead you’ve gone and burnt your arm.
I hate those days of which I speak,
I have them almost every week!
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Lord and Lady, feel my pain,
Help me to feel good again.
Take these aches away from me,
This is what I ask of thee.
I ask thee not for gifts of wealth,
My only wish is for good health.
Lord and Lady, see my plight,
Help me to regain my might.
Give your healing love to me,
As I will, So Mote It Be!
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Do I stay, or do I go?
Tell me this, I want to know.
Do I mean anything?
Will my exit make you sing?
Will your heart break if I leave?
I bet you won’t cry or grieve.
If you love me, tell me now
Or I’ll be gone forever. Ciao!
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Freedom of religion includes mine,
So don’t bother wasting your time
Sending out your little spies,
Getting them to hear your lies,
Pagan lifestyle is my choice,
Writing poetry is my voice,
You can’t take these things from me
Don’t inflict your bigotry.
As time passes you will find
That your web does weave and wind
About you, tying you up fast
Enough’s enough, the past is past.

Morrigan, O Great Queen
I fight a battle that’s unseen
I need your strength to win this war
As a crow, above me soar.
Morrigan, Goddess of Strife
I do not seek to take a life
I need courage, pure and true
Morrigan, that’s why I need you.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Mother Goddess, guide me well
Your many secrets please do tell
Help me be the best I can
Aid me in this life I plan
Mother Goddess, guide me now
Help me to fulfill my vow
To give aid where's there need
Let me not succumb to greed
Mother Goddess, guide me true
Let me be a light for you
To help others on their way
In all seasons, night and day
Mother Goddess, guide me ever
The storms of life I need to weather
Keep me strong, true, and bright
Throughout the day and through the night

I’ve got my voice back and you’ll see
It’s not easy to silence me
The words within come spilling out
I shouldn’t give in to self-doubt
I have to write, to share my words
They fly from me, like graceful birds
I love to see them all get shared,
It’s great to know that someone cared
So I am back and here to stay
I hope you have a blessed day!

This poem was inspired by the Goddess, I cannot be any more specific than that.
She moves through the world, with grace,
She has an ever-changing face,
I feel Her touch in every place,
As She moves with gentle pace.
She calls to me in darkest night,
I hear Her voice in the sunlight,
And echoes from the greatest height,
Asking me to do what’s right.
I follow Her, with hope and cheer,
I have relinquished all my fear,
I feel Her presence ever near,
My path is now so crystal clear.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Please keep me straight upon my way,
Help me be true every day.
Don’t let me wander off the path,
Protect my cosy home and hearth.
Lord and Lady, help me believe,
As I will it, So Mote It Be!
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Walk with me, through day and night,
We’ll be together, in dark and light.
Share with me the season’s weather,
Magick we will do together.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Whirling thoughts go round and round,
How can anger make a sound?
I wish I could release this hate,
I do not want to seal my fate.
Am I so bad? I want to know
Why do others hurt me so?
Just let me be, to live my life,
Stop bringing to me pain and strife.
Go away, leave me alone,
The truth is here, your colours shown.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
The storm has passed, and now I’m calm,
I won’t let others do me harm.
No longer will they bring me down,
I want to smile, no more frowns.
My own life is in my hands,
No matter what their nasty plans.
I will not break, I will not fall,
No longer beaten, I stand tall.

This poem was written after my first experience of prejudice against my beliefs, from someone who had no knowledge of the reality of my life.
Yes, I’m a Witch, is that so wrong?
You clearly think I don’t belong.
You judge my life, you judge my acts,
Yet you don’t bother with the facts.
The lies you tell are way off base,
But you say nothing to my face.
You know nothing of my beliefs,
My lifestyle, or all my griefs.
I think you need to learn about
The way I live, forget your doubts.
I try to help, I do my best,
I’m not the Wicked Witch of the West.
You’re a fool, with a closed mind,
Time to leave ignorance behind.
Talk to me, and soon you’ll learn,
That I do not deserve to burn.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
This poem was another one inspired by prejudice I was facing, from someone who should have known better.
Why is life so complicated?
Why am I so cursed and hated?
I'm tired of this constant fight,
Show me how to make it right.
This situation is so tragic,
You're blaming me for using magic.
You know naught of what you speak,
Your mind is closed, your reason weak.
Your actions are so underhand,
Judging what you don't understand.
Witchcraft is no more a crime,
You're living in a bygone time.
Why should I change my convictions
Just to minimise the frictions?
Live and let live, that's my way,
I don't tell others how to pray.
Open your mind, learn something new,
See things from different points of view.
Open up your fettered mind,
Leave the Burning Times behind.
Why can't you see that I'm not evil?
I won't turn you into a weevil.
You won't find yourself with paws,
My broomstick is for sweeping floors.
Look beyond your hate and fears,
Show wisdom far beyond your years.
Swap ignorance for open mind,
You may be awed by what you find.

Words spinning round inside my head
Tormenting me when I’m in bed
I want to rise and write them down
The light goes on, my husband frowns
He mutters something like, “You pest,”
So I lay right back down to rest
My brain continues its turmoil
Words slip across my mind like oil
I give up, and rise to write
And so ends another night.

Lord and Lady, this I ask,
Aid me daily in my task.
Let me be a guiding light,
Keep me strong, cheerful and bright.
Help me learn so I can grow,
Aid me when I’m feeling low.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
I wrote this one just for me, to clarify in my own mind what my own ethics are. I think it answered my question nicely.
I’m a Witch, and this my creed,
I will help when there is need.
I’ll do my best to help the Earth,
Won’t over-estimate my worth.
I won’t abuse the things I know,
I’ll stay upbeat when I feel low.
I’ll try my best in all I do,
Will try to keep an open view.
Be honest, open, and be fair,
Lord and Lady, this I swear.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
This one has never been seen by anyone except me. It’s a response to everyone who has taken my work at face value, and been unable to see the humour I try to show in my work.
Don’t take me so seriously,
I’m only writing poetry.
My tongue in cheek is firmly curled,
I’m not trying to change the world.
So find the humour in my rhyme,
It should take but a little time.
Lighten up, enjoy the joke,
Or out your ears will come smoke.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Good morning world, Blessed Be!
What has this day in store for me?
No matter if strife comes along
I will stay calm, sweet and strong.
If the day is full of light,
I’ll remember to give thanks tonight.
Lord and Lady, help me face
Whatever today brings with grace.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
This one is a very short prayer, giving thanks for those good times.
Every fibre fills with glee,
I’m so happy being me.
Lord and Lady, thanks to you,
For all I am, and can do.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
I wrote this one to my husband, in appreciation of all he does for me and our family. Over the last four years I have had some health problems, and he has kept everything together.
Lift my mood, help me stand tall,
Be my strength, don’t let me fall.
Always there, right by my side,
You see me, no need to hide.
I love you more with ev’ry day,
You are my life, my light, my way.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Another poem inspired by my wonderful husband. I cannot thank him enough!
My hand, so small in yours
Our love truly endures.
We have been through rough times,
Yet our love ever climbs.
I’ve never had to doubt you,
I couldn’t be without you.
You’re always there for me,
Strong and tall, like a tree,
My guide light in the dark,
My picnic in the park.
We will never, ever part,
You are too deeply in my heart.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
You go your way, I’ll go mine,
We can’t agree, but that’s just fine.
We don’t have to fuss and fight,
Because we both believe we’re right.
My beliefs are mine alone,
You’re entitled to your own.
I don’t want to start a war,
That’s not what I’m looking for.
So walk away, and don’t look back,
We’ll each stick to our own track.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
I think we have all had those days where you go into a room and can’t remember why, or we know there is something we should be doing, but just can’t think what it is. One of those days is what inspired this effort.
Ever feel like you’re losing your mind?
Can’t place the things that you needed to find?
Rest assured that you’re not alone,
It’s something that happens when you have grown
Older and Wiser, you need to adjust
To the idea that your brain is now full of dust.
It happens to all, I guarantee,
Why oh why does it happen early to me?
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
I’m crying, you’re lying,
Inside I’m slowly dying.
You use me, abuse me,
Now you’re going to lose me.
Tears flowing, no slowing,
This time I’m really going.
I’m gone, moved on,
No more falling for your con.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Have to smile, got to grin,
Can’t ever let the bullies win.
Keep on moving, never stop,
Slowly working to the top.
One day they’ll realise, if you’re strong,
That they were the ones in the wrong.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Lord and Lady, keep me strong,
Help me feel like I belong.
Give me faith in my skills,
Let them help me pay the bills.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
This poem was inspired by the thought of sitting by the fire in later years, and thinking back over happy times and loved ones. I wanted to make it longer, but I just haven’t been able to come up with more.
In moments of leisure,
I will treasure,
Memories of pleasure,
Beyond human measure.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
A love poem, asking for the things that most people would like in a relationship; trust, intimacy, and affection.
Give me comfort, show me love,
Take me higher, far above.
Give me kindness, show your heart,
Make me never want to part.
Show your weakness, share your fears,
We’ll be together through the years.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
I’ve found my home, I’ve found my place,
Where I don’t have to hide my face.
The people there make me belong,
They never make me feel I’m wrong.
We can discuss most anything,
Or laugh, or tease, or joke, or sing.
Where is this place? I hear you ask
This place that has no need for masks?
It’s all around me, calm and serene,
The place where I feel like a queen.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
I’m all alone, I have no home
It’s cold and dark out here.
I have nothing to call my own,
Nothing, except my fear.
I have no food, I have no love,
There’s strangers all around me.
No roof below the sky above,
No-one seems to see me.
Yes I’m homeless, down and out,
But I’m still a human being.
Don’t pass me by, ignore me,
Or look without REALLY seeing.
You don’t know my story, so
Don’t judge me without thinking,
You could be in my shoes soon,
The economy is shrinking.
So when you see me, don’t pass by,
Show kindness along the way.
You never know what time may bring,
You might be me one day.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
At this festive time of the year,
I won’t be celebrating I fear.
I have no money, home or hearth,
Instead I sleep on a cold path.
While you enjoy with family,
Please think of poor old me.
Is there something you can do
So I can share the happiness too?
Please don’t push me from your mind,
Take a minute, do something kind.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
I stand in my garden and what do I see?
An oasis of beauty and tranquillity.
I stand in my garden and what do I hear?
Insects and birds, the sounds crystal clear.
I stand in my garden and what do I smell?
The flowers and herbs that I love so well.
I stand in my garden and what do I feel?
Peaceful and happy, a pleasure so real.
I stand in my garden, and what do I taste?
The fruits from my trees that I don’t want to waste.
My garden’s my haven, my place I can hide,
I treasure the calmness it gives me inside.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
It’s a new day, a fresh start,
I wipe my troubles from my heart.
You betrayed me, cut me out,
I chose not to scream and shout.
Time to move on, start anew,
No more wasting thoughts on you.
I’m moving on to better things,
Hope is what the future brings.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
This is not a particularly happy poem, as it was written in a fit of frustration caused by being on the receiving end of someone else’s bad mood.
I’ve one nerve left, you’re getting on it,
Fed up with your moody shit.
Go away, leave, give me peace,
This constant tantrum has to cease.
Act your age, go on, grow up,
An adult, not a young pup.
If you don’t, I’ll walk away,
You may regret it all one day.
Life is not out to get you,
You need to take a different view.
So pick your toys up off the floor,
And throw them from your pram no more.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
I am a grumpy Witch today,
My patience has all gone away.
I’ve had enough, I’m fit to burst,
So come on world, show me your worst.
Don’t tell me to calm it down,
I want to scream, stamp and frown.
I must release anger and sorrow,
To be a happy Witch tomorrow!
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
I want to sing, and dance all night,
Victory is within my sight.
I’ve won this battle, fair and square,
I played nice, but you don’t care.
You’ve badmouthed me all over town,
I didn’t let it get me down.
You used against me dirty tricks,
You showered me with slaps and kicks.
I carried on with my own life,
I didn’t cause you stress and strife.
You’ve made yourself look like a fool,
While I have clearly kept my cool.
The mud you threw just isn’t sticking,
You’re the one that you were tricking.
Let this be a lesson to you all,
Lies and pride come before a fall.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
I am Pagan, and I’m proud,
I say it oft, and sing it loud.
Don’t think I’m a stereotype,
Ignore all the fuss and hype.
I’m a healer, and a Witch,
It doesn’t mean that I’m a bitch!
I try to help, to ease pain,
I love to dance in wind and rain.
When you are troubled, come to me
I’ll try my best to help, no fee!
Don’t judge me by fears of the past,
A witchy curse I will not cast.
I will not hide myself away,
I want to change what people say.
I am Pagan, and I’m here,
Not someone for you to fear.
Take some time, get to know me,
I don’t bite, and this you’ll see.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
I try so hard to do my best,
Yet you just judge me like the rest.
I’ll show you that you all are wrong,
I’ll have you sing a different song.
When all the facts have come to light,
You’ll see that I was proven right.
I won’t ask for apologies,
Just for hostilities to cease.
When it’s over, hear my plea,
Don’t come crawling back to me.
I won’t hold a grudge, no fear,
But there are no idiots here.
I won’t fall for your lies again,
Time for you to make new friends.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
This poem was written for my amazing husband, just before our wedding anniversary, to try and give him an idea of how much he means to me.
Your love is ever my guiding light,
It gets me through the darkest night.
We’ve had the year from hell, it seems
Yet you’re still supportive of my dreams.
You keep me strong, you give me hope,
You help me when I feel I can’t cope.
I love you more with every day,
Let life throw at us what it may!
I know that we will always be
A happy couple, you and me.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Ever had one of those days
Where things go wrong in many ways?
When nothing goes wholly to plan
You can’t do what you thought you can.
Disasters and mistakes galore,
When what you want is nothing more
Than peace and quiet, order and calm
Instead you’ve gone and burnt your arm.
I hate those days of which I speak,
I have them almost every week!
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Lord and Lady, feel my pain,
Help me to feel good again.
Take these aches away from me,
This is what I ask of thee.
I ask thee not for gifts of wealth,
My only wish is for good health.
Lord and Lady, see my plight,
Help me to regain my might.
Give your healing love to me,
As I will, So Mote It Be!
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Do I stay, or do I go?
Tell me this, I want to know.
Do I mean anything?
Will my exit make you sing?
Will your heart break if I leave?
I bet you won’t cry or grieve.
If you love me, tell me now
Or I’ll be gone forever. Ciao!
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Freedom of religion includes mine,
So don’t bother wasting your time
Sending out your little spies,
Getting them to hear your lies,
Pagan lifestyle is my choice,
Writing poetry is my voice,
You can’t take these things from me
Don’t inflict your bigotry.
As time passes you will find
That your web does weave and wind
About you, tying you up fast
Enough’s enough, the past is past.

Morrigan, O Great Queen
I fight a battle that’s unseen
I need your strength to win this war
As a crow, above me soar.
Morrigan, Goddess of Strife
I do not seek to take a life
I need courage, pure and true
Morrigan, that’s why I need you.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Mother Goddess, guide me well
Your many secrets please do tell
Help me be the best I can
Aid me in this life I plan
Mother Goddess, guide me now
Help me to fulfill my vow
To give aid where's there need
Let me not succumb to greed
Mother Goddess, guide me true
Let me be a light for you
To help others on their way
In all seasons, night and day
Mother Goddess, guide me ever
The storms of life I need to weather
Keep me strong, true, and bright
Throughout the day and through the night
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
I’ve got my voice back and you’ll see
It’s not easy to silence me
The words within come spilling out
I shouldn’t give in to self-doubt
I have to write, to share my words
They fly from me, like graceful birds
I love to see them all get shared,
It’s great to know that someone cared
So I am back and here to stay
I hope you have a blessed day!
